Top 7 Benefits Of Using Acrylic Beads In Jewelry Making

unduhan (31)Acrylic is a synthetic material, but it is quite astonishing as well. Since its discovery in the early 1900s, it has been used in the creation of many things including LCD light systems and fish aquariums. It can be said that acrylic is a versatile plastic which has many uses. In your household, you will find many things that are made of acrylic. Even the artificial nails that you fancy at parties and events are acrylic nails. But, one of the best uses of this material is in the manufacture of beads. With the huge availability of acrylic beads, it has become easy and affordable for people to design jewelry at home.

Acrylic beads are really popular and there are many benefits of using them in jewelry making. In this article, we take a look at the top 7 benefits.

1. Extremely affordable

Because acrylic is a synthetic material which is easy to produce, acrylic beads are extremely affordable. You can buy a pack of 50 beads for as low as $7.99. This amount of beads is enough to produce at least 3 stunning necklaces and 8 bracelets.

2. Many colors

No matter what you are planning to do with these beads, you will surely find the perfect color. Whether you want to make jewelry, decorate an ornament or accessorize your clothing, there are beads in every color that you can imagine.

3. Many shapes

Acrylic beads are available in a plethora of shapes and styles. No matter what your beading or crafting needs are, there are acrylic beads in every shape out there. Some common shapes include round, heart, butterfly, flower, abacus, cube, oval, flat round, rhombus, twist, drop, bicone, leaf and many others.

4. Extremely lightweight

When people buy jewelry, one of the first things that they consider is the weight of the jewelry. Bulky and heavy jewelry can irritate the wearer and make them uncomfortable. Acrylic beads are lightweight and even if you use them to create layered necklaces and bracelets, they will be very light on the neck and hands. This is the reason many people prefer them over glass beads and crystal beads.

5. Clarity

Just like glass, acrylic is very clear and highly transparent until they are colored or mixed with other substances to make them opaque. Because of this clarity, they are often mistaken for glass. For jewelry designers, this is an added benefit because glass beads are more expensive than their acrylic counterparts and using acrylic beads in their jewelry creation helps them create the same look and appeal of glass. The shimmering clarity of acrylic makes them the perfect choice for elegant jewelry.

6. Durability

One of the biggest advantages of acrylic beads is its durability. They do not wear off as quickly as other types of beads. So if you have an acrylic necklace, you can keep it for years without it losing its sheen or appeal. They do not shatter if they are dropped on the floor. They are strong and durable making them a perfect choice for jewelry making.

7. Stays cool to touch

Acrylic jewelry does not get hot unlike glass in hot weather. They stay cooler and are comfortable when worn during summers.

Use Sieve Ring Blanks To Make Beautiful Flower Rings

unduhan (30)Flower rings are extremely popular these days among both girls and women. With the huge availability of different types of flower beads, it is quite possible to make your own flower rings at home. All you need to do is follow the steps below and you will have a stunning and absolutely gorgeous ring on your finger within no time.

What you need:

• Flower beads
• Threading material
• Sieve ring blanks
• Size 10 beading needle
• 6 crystal beads
• Set of 6 10 mm small leaves
• Pack of seed beads of different sizes if possible

One of the most beautiful types of flower beads that you can find is hydrangeas. You can look for them online or in your craft store. If you don’t find them, you can use any that you like. Choose the color that you want to use in your ring and get the other supplies ready. You will need adjustable sieve ring blanks so the ring fits well on any finger. Even if you plan to give the ring as a gift to someone, you won’t have to worry about the size.

You can make the rings in different colors or even use bead combinations. Take the longest length of thread that you can work with and also make sure that you use pre conditioned threads as they do not require waxing.

• Cut a length of thread, about 2 meters and thread it onto the needle. You must secure the thread to the sieve ring blank before you actually start using the flower beads and other elements. You can take the needle up through one of the holes and bring it down from the other hole. It doesn’t matter which hole you use as long as you secure the thread to the sieve ring blank.

• When you have about 7cm of thread left, then you can take the two ends of the threads and knot them together at the back of the ring blank and take the thread back up through the centre hole.

• Now you can thread the beads in any order that you like. Since we have chosen flower beads and crystal beads, you can keep the crystal beads in the centre of the ring and thread the flower beads on the sides.

• When you start with the flower beads, bring the needle from the bottom of the blank to the top and then insert one flower bead. Place a seed bead on top of the flower bead, but do not thread the bead from the bottom. Take the needle around it and back to the bottom of the blank through the hole in the seed bead. This will help keep both types of beads secure.

• Repeat with the rest of the beads until just the outer holes of the sieve is left. These holes can then be used to attach the leaves to give the flower ring a complete look.
